"my heaven" a successful electronic opus from Jens Buchert, a much renowned downbeat producer from Stuttgart/Germany. After working on his 8th album for over a year, he once more displays his masterful skills in dealing with all facets of his genre - sensual chill-out music.
But this time, Jens Buchert went far beyond to enter richer territory. He suceeded in creating new listening pleasures, as homogenous as distinctive. "my heaven" must be considered a new milestone in his creative output and can be described as a dynamic mixture of electro, lounge and ambient elements all merging into a fairy tale of wonderful modern pop music.
Not only did Jens Buchert put all his new technical abilities, creative power and profound moods in the process but also he invited a host of splendid guest musicians to help create an appealing and thoroughly entertaining experience.
Right from the start, Jens Buchert seduces the listener with the mellow downtempo song "Polaris" featuring the promising band project Shine with guitarist Laurent Houdard and Venezuelan singer Hanane Laraki. Sonorous and soothing follows the title track "My Heaven" featuring Franca Morgano.
In the early 1990s, this Italian singer had a massive hit with The Omen "Magic Affair" (No. 1 at German Sales Charts). Powered by a deep bass line, this song is also perfect for a slow dance with deep eye contact.
The album's most catchy song should be "1000 Miles" with black singer Othello Glenn (hailing from Guyana and currently co-producing tracks for Wamdue project). A slow-motion but also pulsating ballad with a refined Caribbean touch, calling forth pictures of a beautifully coloured ocean, pleasant summer breeze and gorgeous people sipping on sweet cocktails.
Hanane Laraki makes a graceful reappearance in "Asleep". Here she blesses the song with alluring vocals countered by the skilful arrangement of percussive sequences. But Jens Buchert also has a deeper side to his soul. In the middle of the album, he surprises us with almost sinister sounds.
While "No Fake" is on the epic and orchestral side, "Black Cherry" comes juicy, percussive and with a jazzy break.
All in all, the album's compelling arrangements radiate pure magic. Crystal-clear sounds, sophisticated instrumentation and beautiful vocals create a unique floating vibe and turn "my heaven" into a serene and timeless masterpiece.
